THOUSANDS MOURN AS MAMA ARAMETU SANI EGIDI ABDULRAHEEM PASSES ON

Thousands of sympathizers gathered at Adogo in Ajaokuta Local Government Area to pay their last respects to Mama Arametu Sani Egidi Abdulraheem, the mother of Rt. Hon. Sani Egidi Abdulraheem, member representing Ajaokuta Federal Constituency.

Mama Arametu, aged 101, passed away on Monday, April 14, 2025, after a prolonged illness. The burial, conducted by an Islamic cleric from Adogo, was attended by prominent government officials, political stalwarts, and community leaders.

The Kogi State Government, represented by members of the state executive council, condoled with the family.

The Commissioner for Works, Engr. Mohammed Ahovi Yusuf, described Mama Arametu as a mother who embodied the true ideal of motherhood.

“We come on behalf of the Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, to register condolences to Rt. Hon. Sani Egidi on the passing of his dear beloved mother, Mama Arametu,” he said.

The Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Hon. Taiye Abanika, described the deceased as a mother to all, urging her children to emulate her qualities. “Mama was a great mother, whose love and affection was beyond boundaries. She doesn’t discriminate and was open towards giving hands of support to the needy. We shall surely miss her uncommon kindness,” he added.

The Commissioner for Science, Technology, and Innovation, Hon. Helen Adeniyi, attributed the large turnout to the deceased’s good record and prayed for her peaceful repose and the family’s strength to cope with the loss.

The Chairman/CEO of the Kogi State Electricity Regulatory Commission, Engr. Ibrahim Abdwaaris, was among the dignitaries who attended the burial. Other attendees included political stalwarts, groups, and associations from within and outside the area.

The deceased’s children, Mrs. Sefinat and Mallam Illiyasu Egidi, described their mother as a pillar of support whose impact on their lives was legendary. “Her departure has created a deep cut in the family,” they said.

Mama Arametu is survived by her children, including Rt. Hon. Sani Egidi Abdulraheem, Mrs. Safinat, and Illiyasu Egidi Sani, as well as grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
