Ambassador Dr. Regina Ocheni, a former Deputy Head of Mission to the Republic of Germany and wife of a former Minister , Prof. Stephen Ikani Ocheni, today hosted a New Year party for children in her home at Idah, Kogi State.
The event was part of her efforts to celebrate the start of a new year with the children and provide them with educational materials to aid their learning.
The event featured music, dance, drama, and play, entertaining kids from within and outside her residence.
Notable attendees included top politicians, APC stakeholders, Professor Usman Salisu Ogbo, Rector of Kogi State Polytechnic, and representatives from the local government and clergy.
As a former Deputy Head of Mission, Ambassador Ocheni has been actively engaged with women and youth in recent years, providing support through job opportunities and palliatives.
In her welcome address, Ambassador Dr. Ocheni expressed her joy at seeing the children gathered at her residence.
She asked the children what they wanted God to do for them in the year 2025 and encouraged them to raise their hands and share their wishes.
The highlight of the event was the presentation of educational gifts and other items to the children.
Ambassador Dr Ocheni distributed the gifts, which included books, pens, and other learning materials.
Prof. Stephen Ikani Ocheni, a former Minister, also spoke at the event, emphasizing the importance of education and hard work.
He encouraged the children to work hard and pursue their dreams, sharing the story of a professor who achieved his goals through diligence.
Also speaking at the event, the Ohiegba of Mozum, Alhaji Bukar Khalid, commended Prof. Stephen Ikani Ocheni and wife Ambassador Dr. Regina I. Ocheni for organizing the children’s New Year party.
The traditional ruler urged the children to take their education seriously and praised Ambassador Dr. Regina I. Ocheni for her love for children.
