Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) has honored a former Minister with the Vice Chancellor Meritorious Service Award.
The award recognizes the former Minister’s commitment to academic excellence and research.
In his acceptance speech, the former Minister commended the Vice Chancellor, Professor Abayomi Sunday Fasina, for his outstanding leadership and vision.
Professor Ocheni noted that under Fasina’s administration, the university has witnessed impressive growth and development.
The former Minister emphasized the importance of sustained academic excellence, prioritizing research, academic integrity, and innovation.
Professor Ocheni who was represented at the occasion by a immediate past member of the Governing Council of Prince Abubakar Audu University Anyigba, Hon Ali Atabor also cautioned against the abuse of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in institutions of learning, stressing the need for responsible and ethical use.
Furthermore, the former Minister recognized the Governing Council, led by Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba, for their effective leadership and oversight.
He also acknowledged the President of Kogi State Council of Chiefs and Chancellor FU Oye-Ekiti, His Royal Majesty GAABAIDU, Doctor Alaji Matthew Opaluwa Oguche for his royal blessings and support.
The former Minister quoted Nelson Mandela, saying, “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world”, urging academics and educators to use their knowledge and expertise to make a positive impact on society.
