The Executive Chairman of Igalamela/Odolu Local Government Council, Hon. (Barr.) Cosmas Ilemona Atabor has announced the immediate dissolution of the Local Government Revenue Generation Committee.
The decision followed the report and recommendation of the Revenue Supervisory and Modification Committee, submitted to the Chairman in his office at Ajaka, which identified malfeasance, discrepancies, and irregularities from the committee’s findings.
Barrister Atabor commended the Revenue Supervisory and Modification Committee for its diligence and dedication to the exercise.
He expressed his administration’s determination to ensure a revenue system that is transparent and accountable, assuring that the recommendations of the committee will be adopted as much as possible.
Hon. (Barr.) Atabor emphasized the importance of due process and transparency in managing government resources.
The Chairman also issued a stern warning to individuals exercising unlawful authority over local government assets, advising them to steer clear from such or face the wrath of the law.
In his determination to ensure a thorough and conclusive modification exercise, Hon. (Barr.) Atabor extended the mandate of the Revenue Supervisory and Modification Committee by six months.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Revenue Supervisory and Modification Committee, Hon. Ataguba Joseph expressed gratitude to the Chairman for his determination to appraise and modify the revenue affairs of the local government for improved performance.
He assured the Chairman of the Committee’s commitment to fulfilling the mandate of the exercise without fear or favour.
