In a well-attended gathering held at the Conference Hall of the Igalamela/Odolu Local Government Secretariat Complex, Ajaka, the Executive Chairman, Hon. (Barr.) Cosmas Ilemona Atabor, convened a strategic stakeholders’ meeting with heads of various communities across the district.
The meeting focused on promoting unity, peace, and progress within the district, and provided a platform for stakeholders to deliberate on calls for the creation of Ajaka District as an autonomous community deserving of its own traditional leadership structure.
In his address, Hon. Atabor emphasised the importance of inclusiveness and balance in considering the opinions and aspirations of the people.
He noted that the meeting aimed to ensure collective decision-making that reflects the will of the people and upholds the long-standing harmony among the communities.
After extensive deliberations, stakeholders unanimously resolved to request the creation of Ajaka District, citing historical and traditional precedents guiding leadership structures.
Hon. Atabor also announced the donation of a 500KVA transformer to the area by Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, aimed at improving electricity supply.
The news was received with excitement and applause.
The Chairman commended Governor Ododo for his responsiveness to the people’s needs, highlighting developmental strides in the area, including the Ayikpele-Okpe-Imere-Etobo road construction, forthcoming road projects, and Ajaka Market rehabilitation.
Community leaders, including Chief Michael Ibrahim and Alhaji Sani Ayikoye, expressed appreciation for Hon. Atabor’s inclusive leadership style and lauded Governor Ododo’s visionary leadership, reaffirming their support for his administration.
