Hon. (Barr.) Cosmas Ilemona Atabor has within one year in office demonstrated purposeful leadership anchored on transparency, inclusiveness and commitment to grassroots development as his achievements reflect a clear alignment with the vision of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for a peaceful, secure and progressive Kogi State.
His administration’s focus on security, healthcare, education, infrastructure, and community development has repositioned the LGA for sustainable growth and progress.
Security and Peace Building:
Recognising that security is the foundation of development, Hon. Atabor’s administration has made the protection of lives and property a top priority. Security operatives have been equipped with essential tools to effectively combat crimes and criminality. Their welfare has been enhanced to boost morale, while three new security outposts were constructed across the LGA, a proactive step that has strengthened peace and orderliness.
Healthcare Advancement:
Placing high value on the health of his people, the Chairman has embarked on the remodelling and construction of several Primary Healthcare Centres, including PHC Ogbogba, PHC Odolu, PHC Agbokete, and PHC Amaka, among others. These interventions have expanded access to quality healthcare delivery across rural communities.

Education Development:
Hon. Atabor’s administration has also made notable progress in the education sector. Projects executed include the construction of two blocks of classrooms at Okpakpata, three blocks each at Oforachi and Ogala Akogu, and two blocks at Oguma. The Chairman has further supported indigent students through the payment of WAEC and JAMB registration fees, provision of educational materials, and tuition support for tertiary institution students across all levels.
Agricultural Empowerment:
To strengthen food security and support local farmers, the Chairman facilitated a multimillion-acre ACRESAL turnaround loan scheme for cooperative farmers, providing them with the needed resources to boost agricultural productivity.
Road Rehabilitation:
In a bid to enhance rural connectivity, Hon. Atabor has overseen the grading of key feeder roads such as the Otobo–Ikare road and the Ayikpele–Okpe–Imere–Etobo road. These road projects have improved access to farmlands and markets, promoting economic activities within the LGA.

Market Remodelling:
Economic rejuvenation is underway through the remodelling and upgrading of local markets. The Akpanya market, now equipped with basic amenities and 250 new shops, has been completed. Additionally, nine blocks of 108 shops have been delivered, while the decongestion and transformation of the Ajaka main market into an ultra-modern trading hub are ongoing.

Social Welfare and Community Support:
The administration has extended financial assistance to the aged, underprivileged persons, and religious and social groups, reinforcing its commitment to inclusivity and compassion.
Community Engagement:
Through an open-door policy, Hon. Atabor continues to engage with stakeholders, promptly addressing community concerns and ensuring participatory governance. This approach has sustained peace, trust, and collaboration across the LGA.
Order, Sanitation, and Environmental Safety:
To promote safety and orderliness, the administration has removed illegal barricades and structures obstructing free road access, significantly reducing road accidents. Furthermore, the introduction of an environmental sanitation bye-law has institutionalised a culture of cleanliness and environmental sustainability.
With other ongoing projects across the local government, Hon. Atabor is poised to accomplish more for the people.
Indeed, Hon. (Barr.) Cosmas Atabor is working assiduously towards a greater Igalamela/Odolu
