Hon. (Barr.) Cosmas Ilemona Atabor, in his determination to improve infrastructure, has expressed satisfaction with the ongoing reconstruction of the market in Akpanya, a district in Igalamela/Odolu LGA.
The project involves a complete overhaul of the market and the construction of 270 new lock-up shops under a Build, Operate, and Transfer (BOT) partnership agreement between the Local Government Council, the Akpanya Community, and the Akpanya Traders Union.
As part of the agreement, a borehole will be drilled to provide adequate water supply, while a modern slaughter slab and a perimeter fence will be built to enhance sanitation and security.
Hon. (Barr.) Atabor emphasized that this initiative aligns with his economic development plan, aimed at boosting commercial activities in the area.
He assured stakeholders of the project’s timely completion and reaffirmed his commitment to upholding the terms outlined in the agreement.
The Chairman stressed that upon completion, the market’s reconstruction will help reduce crime, increase revenue generation, and create more opportunities for lawful economic engagements.
