Kogi State Government has urged Dangote Cement PLC, Obajana, to include indigenous youth in their youth empowerment and appointment programs.
Kogi State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon Aridaojo Monday Anyebe, made this call during a visit to the company.
Hon Anyebe emphasized the need to reduce unemployment rates among Kogi State youth.
The Commissioner noted that while Dangote Cement PLC has implemented empowerment programs in other states, Kogi State has yet to benefit from such initiatives.
He encouraged the company to improve their efforts by including scholarships, appointments, and youth engagement programs to promote youth development in the state.
The commissioner also appealed to the company to partner with the state government to renovate the Confluence Stadium in Lokoja and to use professional drivers to minimize accidents on highways.
In response, the General Manager of Human Resources at Dangote Cement PLC, Mr. Adeniyi Azeez, assured that the company is committed to youth development.
Mr Azeez assured that he will take the commissioner’s advice and request to their headquarters for consideration.
The Commissioner was accompanied on the visit by the Special Adviser on Youth and Student Affairs, Hon Oladele Nihi John, as well as other appointees and Directors in the Ministry.
