Kogi State Govt.to make ICT study compulsory in Schools in the State.

Kogi State Commissioner for Education Hon. Wemi Jones says the state government would restore the old glory of education in Primary and Secondary Schools.

He stated that Government would adopt a scientific approach to achieve this aim.

In doing this, the state government would make ICT study compulsory in secondary schools across the State.

Hon Wemi Jones made this known at the Diamond Jubilee Celebration of Saint Monica College Kabba.

He stated that a good foundation has been layed in the past eight years to ensure that primary and secondary schools in the State, especially public schools are repositioned to restore standard education in the State

The State he said has commenced the process of Inspection, Supervision and Evaluation of schools across the State, saying that the days of school Inspection by government departments has come to stay.

He revealed that the State Government has a detailed Plan of what education would be by the year 2030, noting that in the past attention was on tertiary institution but focus would now be on Primary and Secondary Education

The increment of budgetary allocation of 30% to Education according to him was to restore the glory of education and to invest in the social and economic development of the State.

Hon. Wemi Jones said the state government after holistic assessment of schools in the state would embark on massive infrastructural development in public primary and secondary schools across the state, promising that Saint Monica College Kabba would not be left out.

He called on the teaching and non teaching staff of secondary schools to get themselves acquainted with the State Education Law in order not to violate the law as the government is poised to curb all form of fraudulent activities going on in secondary schools.

According to him, the era of extorting students and their parents is over. Government would ensure that no student is extorted in any way.

The Commissioner who frowned at Examination Malpractices warned that no secondary school in the State should be converted to WAEC/NECO miracle center, saying that anyone caught would be made to face the Law.

Government he noted would not fold its hands to allow the huge investment made in education to go to waste because of the activities of Saboteurs.

While appreciating the effort of Saint Monica Old Girls Association (SMOGA) for their commitment towards making sure that the school structures have facelift, said the school would enjoy the State government packages for secondary schools in the State.
