Activities to herald the conduct of Local Government elections in Kogi State commences on Monday next with sensitization visit to Local Government Areas by officials of the State Independent Electoral Commission,SIEC.
According to the timetable and schedule of activities released by SIEC, collection of forms by political parties will start between 5-6th August 2024.
The Commission explained that conduct of party primaries, including resolution of disputes arising from the primaries will take place on 13-23rd August, emphasizing that all issues relating to primaries must be concluded on or before 23rd August in line with section 25(1)(2) Electoral Act 2010.
The last day for submission of forms to SIEC headquarters is 26th August, and stated that no form will be accepted after the deadline, while verification and documentation for claims and objections holds on 4-11th September.
The State Electoral body said commencement of campaigns by political parties will commence on 12th September, just as it also fixed 13th September for Publication of list of candidates.
The Commission further announced 16th September as the last day for withdrawal by candidates/substitution of uncleared candidates, while final list of cleared candidates will be made available to political parties on 23rd September.
The time table and schedule of the conduct of the election which was signed by the Commission Chairman, Mamman Nda Eri, shows that 2nd October will be the last day for submission of names of Polling Unit Agents by political parties.
The Commission added that 17th October is the last day for political party campaigns, with elections holding on 19th October 2024.
