Kogi State Launches Revitalized Fight Against Tuberculosis: Together, We Can Overcome TB

The Kogi State Government, in partnership with Stop TB Partnership Nigeria, has launched a renewed effort to combat tuberculosis (TB) in the state.

Hajia Sefinat Usman Ododo, Wife of the Kogi State Governor and newly appointed TB Champion, pledged to mobilize support and resources to eradicate TB.

The Wife of the Governor emphasized the need for collective action in raising awareness and ensuring effective treatment.

At the launch of the TB Champion Campaign and Sensitization Program, Hajia Ododo called upon local government chairmen and their spouses to serve as local TB champions.

Dr. Abdulazeez Adeiza Adams, Commissioner for Health, reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to healthcare excellence, highlighting progress made in TB control and partnerships with global organizations.

Dr. Adams commended the governor’s wife for leading the efforts to combat TB and praised Stop TB Partnership Nigeria for its tireless work since 2006 to eliminate TB in Nigeria.

Other speakers, including Dr. Barnabas Segun Isaac and Dr. Komolafe Rotimi, emphasized the importance of awareness, early detection, and collective efforts in overcoming the challenge posed by TB.

Goodwill messages were delivered by development partners, including WHO, ARFH, INGRA, CIHP, and AHF.

The event marked a significant milestone in Kogi State’s efforts to combat TB, with renewed commitment and collective efforts poised to drive positive change.
