The crux of the meeting was to discuss ways for the optimal performance of the ministry in actualising the vision of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR for the revival of the entire steel sector, and industrialising Nigeria through the sector.
Prince Audu commended Hajiya Bala Usman and her team for the critical role they are playing to ensure the delivery of the “renewed hope” agenda of Mr. President for citizens and the optimum performance by ministers and members of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s cabinet.
In an interactive session with staff and management of the Ministry, the Honourable Minister said that the Ministry will continue to count on the guidance of the CDCU to ensure that the Ministry meets every expectation in order to achieve its very core and key objectives of actualising Mr. President’s vision of industrialising Nigeria through the steel sector.
Prince Audu said that despite the challenges of paucity of funds in a capital-intensive sector that has been comatose for over 45 years, the ministry is not resting on its oars and has continued to strategise with innovative ways to achieve its set mandates for the rehabilitation of the entire steel sector.
He said that the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Federal Government through the Ministry and the original builders of the Ajaokuta Steel Complex is a milestone achievement for the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, noting that this is the first time in over four decades that the government has shown the political will to revive the steel sector.
Hajiya Hadiza Bala Usman said that the CDCU was engaging with ministries to ensure that they deliver on the eight priorities and realigned presidential priorities of delivering the renewed hope agenda of Mr. President to Nigerians.
The CDCU, in its presentation on the delivery metrics of the Ministry, proffered some recommendations for efficient delivery to the Ministry, adding that the CDCU is readily available to provide the necessary guidance to the Ministry. The CDCU also advised that the ministry explore the option of engaging with development partners to bridge its funding gaps.
