Kogi State won the National Women Championship competition in the North Central Zone.
Kogi State Sports Director, Mr. Obakachi Onipe, disclosed this while presenting the Gold Medal to the Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Aridaojo Monday Anyebe, in Lokoja.
Mr. Obakachi Onipe said five states competed in the competition, but Kogi State emerged victorious.
The Director of Sports stated that the present administration, under Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, has done well in the sports sector through the commitment and dedication of Hon. Aridaojo Monday Anyebe, the Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development.
Mr. Obakachi Onipe assured the Kogi State Government and the Commissioner of the Sports Council of their dedication to sporting activities in the state. The Director of the Sports Council advised the athletes to rededicate their efforts and continue to win more games.
Speaking, the Head Coach of the Team, Mr. Omolaiye Elisha, restated their loyalty and commitment to the growth of cricket in the state. He thanked the Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Aridaojo Monday Anyebe, for his assistance in promoting the team in the state and Nigeria at large.
Responding, the Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Aridaojo Monday Anyebe, said the present administration, under Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, will continue to support the activities of all sporting programs in the state.
Hon. Aridaojo Monday Anyebe commended the athletes and the coach for their zeal and dedication to cricket games in the state.
The Commissioner commended the state Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, for prioritizing sports and youth development in his agenda.
