The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Niger State Council, has felicitated with former Military President, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (IBB), on his 83rd birthday celebration in Minna.
Chairman Comrade Abu Nmodu described IBB as a leader, patriot, and visionary, whose indelible footprints have contributed significantly to Nigeria’s unity and development.
The Council statement which was signed by its Assistant Secretary, Abubakar Adamu Kuta, highlighted IBB’s liberalization of the media industry, breaking the monopoly and opening it up to competitiveness and access to information.
He also commended IBB’s role in relocating the seat of government from Lagos to Abuja.
The Chairman praised IBB’s dedication, selfless service, and influential position, consistently offering wisdom and counsel to political leaders.
Comrade Abu Nmodu noted that IBB’s impact on Nigeria’s growth and development is immeasurable, inspiring new generations of leaders.
The NUJ Chairman prayed for IBB’s continuous well-being and that of his family.
