NUJ President Salutes NAWOJ, Nigerian Women on Int’l Women’s Day

The National President, Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Comrade Alhassan Yahya has extended warmest felicitations to the National Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) and all Nigerian women on the occasion of the 2025 International Women’s Day Celebration, saying, the day serves as a reminder of the remarkable achievements and contributions of women towards the society.

In his words, Comrade Yahya said, “Women journalists play crucial role in shaping public discourse and giving voice to underrepresented communities, and NAWOJ in particular has been at the forefront of advocating for gender equality and empowering women in the media industry; he said, “I appreciate their dedication and commitment to promoting diversity and inclusivity”.

On her part the NUJ Deputy President, Dr Bimbo Oyetunde expressed that “Today, we celebrate the achievements of women, and reflecting on the progress made towards gender equality, and we shall continue to work together towards a more inclusive and empowered society”. “I specially salute my fellow women journalists especially the leadership and members of NAWOJ for their dedication and commitment to advancing the cause of women in the media industry”.

Concluding, Comrade Alhassan Yahya re-emphasised commitment of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) to the continued support for NAWOJ and all women journalists in Nigeria, to create a conducive environment for women to thrive in their professional careers and achieve their full potentials; and for a more inclusive and equitable society where women will have equal opportunities to thrive and succeed, saying ” Together, we can build a better future for all”.
