Omachi Iyogbo Institution: A return to Glory as HRH, Chief Yusuf Okpanachi Marks 22 Years on the Throne

The Omachi Iyogbo Institution, a centuries-old revered stool in the Igala Kingdom, is celebrating a return to glory as HRH Chief Yusufu Okpanachi OIK marks his 22nd anniversary on the throne.

The stool, which has played a significant role in Igala traditional systems, including the “Ata Igala” traditional installation and Ocho Festival, had been dormant for over a century until Chief Okpanachi’s ascension on August 18, 2002.

During his reign, the stool has achieved remarkable milestones, including becoming a pioneer member of the Igalamela/Odolu Local Government Traditional Council, grading to 3rd Class status in 2006, and promotion to 2nd Class status, earning a seat on the Kogi State Council of Chiefs.

As HRH Chief Yusufu Okpanachi celebrates this significant anniversary, it is a testament to his leadership and dedication to restoring the glory of the Omachi Iyogbo Institution.

Speaking on the anniversary, a son of the celebrant, Prince Ademu Yusuf Okpanachi said it has been a remarkable moment filled with positive testimonies and growth of the stool of His Royal Highness, the Omachi Iyogbo.

Prince Ademu pointed out that the stool which is revered in the traditional institution in Igala land , has flourished in leaps and bounds under the present occupant, wishing the Omachi Iyogbo robust health, sound mind and wisdom as he pilot the affairs of his forefathers.
