The bye-law on Monthly Environmental Safety and Sanitation exercise passed recently took effect from 22nd being the last Saturday of the month of February.
The exercise witnessed an impressive compliance across the Local Government Area.
Residents engaged in cleaning their environment, burning refuse and clearing water drainage system, especially as the rainy season approaches to allow for free flow of water.
The Head of Health department of the Local Government Mr. David Opaluwa leading the environmental and compliance team said, the cooperation of residents was highly encouraging and demonstrates the interest of the people in supporting the administration’s effort towards a cleaner and healthier environment.
He described the maiden exercise as a successful start.
Residents commended the Council Chairman for introducing the sanitation exercise and assured that more compliance with be recorded in the coming months.
