The body of the late Nuhu George Obaje, a Professor of Geology at the Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University Lapai Niger State has been laid to rest in his home town, Ikare -Ajaka, Igalamela/Odolu local government Area of Kogi State.
The funeral service which took place at the deceased resident in Ajaka, attracted members of the academia, top political leaders, associates and other dignitatries from within and outside Kogi State.
In a sermon, Seminarian Abuh Martin admonished family members of the deceased and the congregation to take comfort in the fact that, Professor Nuhu Obaje died after lived a fulfilled life of Christ.
Seminarian Martin pointed out that death was a necessary end for all mortals, advising those still alive to always have the fear of God to avoid regret when the inevitable happened.
He described Professor Nuhu George Obaje as a man of peace, compassionate and lover of his community, urging family members to emulate the Godly life of their departed father, son and brother.
Seminarian Martin also called on christians to shun evil practices and embrace peace, love and understanding with one another to promote cordial and peaceful coexistence.
In a tribute a Former Minister, Professor Stephen Ikani Ocheni, said Igalamela, Kogi State and the academic communities have lost an illustrious son, saying his demise has left a vacuum difficult to fill.
Representative of the Vice Chancellor Ibrahim Badamasi Babagida University Lapai, Professor Aliyu Bello Mohammed and the Chairman, Igalamela/ Odolu Local Government Area, Barrister Cosmas Atabor, described late Professor Nuhu Obaje as an icon of knowledge ,adding that, the entire humanity would miss him greatly.
“To us as a community we feel highly saddened by the untimely passing away of one of beloved son, who was a great source of inspiration, a community trailblazer and accomplished academic. We are however delighted that the late Professor lived legacies worthy of emulation by the present and future generations, said Barrister Atabor “.
The body of late professor Nuhu George Obaje was later interned in his family compound at Ikare- Ajaka, Igalamela/Odolu Local Government Area.
Personalities who were present at the funeral service were also at the ancestral home of the late Professor to pay their last respect and bid him final goodbye .
Late professor Nuhu George Obaje was Head of the Department of Geology, Dean Faculty of Natural and Applied Sciences, Member of the Governing Council of the Institution Representing Senate 2005—-2008
He was aged 63Â and Left behind a wife, 4 children and many other relations.
