Tribute to a Legend: Pa Robert A Onogu’s Burial Ceremonies Begin Tomorrow, Wednesday

The burial ceremonies of late Pa Robert A Onogu, a renowned educationist commences tomorrow Wednesday, September 11, with a service of songs and tribute at his compound in GRA Extension, Idah.

A statement by his son, Hon Patrick Onogu (Paddy), a former Administrator of Igalamela/ Odolu Local Government Area revealed that the final journey of the late elder statesman to his country home, Ogboligbo-Akpanya, in Igalamela/Odolu, will begin on Thursday, September 12.

This will include a lying-in-state ceremony at his Idah compound, followed by a Requiem Mass at Saint Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Igalaogba-Idah on Thursday 12, September.

The funeral mass and thanksgiving service will hold on Friday, September 13, at the family compound in Ogboligbo-Akpanya.

Pa Robert A Onogu, who passed away at 85, is survived by many children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and other relations.

The deceased had a distinguished teaching career, spanning several institutions in Idah, including Saint Peter College, Government Girls Secondary School, and Government Technical College.

He was also the pioneer Headmaster of Igalamela/Odolu Local Government Staff Nursery and Primary School, Ajaka.

Pa Robert A Onogu was an active politician and member of the then All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP), contributing significantly to its electoral success in Igalamela/Odolu.

He was also the Village Head (Gago) of Amachala, Akpanya, from 2007 until his passing.
