It was a sight to behold àt Ajaka in Igalamela/ Odolu Local Government Area this Friday when members of the Nigeria Army committed one of their own, Warrant Officer Sunday David to mother earth in a colourful ceremony depicting the usual tradition of the Nigeria Army.
Warrant Officer Sunday David an indigene of Igalamela Odolu Local Government who served at the Army Formation in Lokoja, died in March, 2024 following an illness.
A chaplain of the Nigeria Army Lokoja in a sermon described death as a necessary end for all mortals .
He said that everyone must strive to leave enduring legacies that they will be remembered for, stating that late Warrant Officer Sunday David was a very friendly individual that was loved by his colleagues in the Nigeria Army.
He advised personnel of the Nigeria Army and others to endeavor to create adequate time for their immediate family.
The chaplain prayed for the peaceful repose of the soul of the departed soldier.
He also urged the family to be comforted by the profound legacies of their late son, who demonstrated uncommon commitment not only to his family but his community as a whole.
The chaplain advised the people not to rush about the things of life ,saying only God determines the pace of human advancement.
An Uncle of the late Warrant Officer, Alhaji Ali Atabor who was a former Chairman of Kogi State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, described the death of their son as a big loss to the family.
He said the deceased was a loving, caring and compassionate gentleman who interacted with all in the community devoid of any form of discriminations.
He prayed God to forgive his shortcomings, and grant his soul eternal bliss.
Alhaji Ali Atabor advised the children to emulate the good nature of their father, whom he noted was a kind and humble fellow.
The eldest daughter of the deceased, Mrs Omaojo thanked all who identified with the family in their time of grief, saying the good virtues of their late father will remain evergreen in their memory.
Late Warrant Officer Sunday David who served in different formations of the Nigeria Army, including peace keeping missions , died at the age of fifty six and is survived by a wife and four children.
