Windstorm at Agbashi Community of Nasarawa State claims one life, several property destroyed.

At least one person was reportedly killed and several others sustained various degree of injuries as a result of a heavy Windstorm at Agbashi community of Doma Local government area of Nasarawa state.

It was also reliably gathered that over 100 Houses, including worship centre’s were also destroyed by the rampaging windstorm.

Briefing newsmen on the sad incident this Wednesday, the Vice Chairman of Doma Local Government Council, Mr John Bako – Ari, disclosed that the unfortunate tragedy occurred on Tuesday this week in the evening.

He explained that over one hundred residential houses were destroyed, including the Agbashi Central mosque, while part of Pilot Primary School Agbashi and several other public infrastructure were not spared by the devastating windstorm.

  In his reaction on the incident, the acting Chairman, Agbashi Development Association (ADA)Mr Anthony Oshinyeka, said the sad incident has brought untold hardship to the affected victims.

He said the area worst hit by the windstorm is the  Bassa  settlement in Iponu at the outskirt of Agbashi where one person lost his life and seven others sustained injuries.

He appealed to the state Government to come to their rescue in order to cushion the effect of the destruction on them.

The Development Association leader also called for the  immediate release of relief materials and medical aids by Government and public spirited individuals to the affected victims.
